Ⰺ DISCOVERY COIN WITH FLY ON PANTS: USA ★ 1/4 DOLLAR 2016D SHIPS UNC MINT LUSTER! WASHINGTON (1789-1797)! NO RESERVE! United States Mint's "America the Beautiful" Quarters® Program Interesting coin in beautiful condition with Washington (1789-1797) and sergeant William Jasper (1750-1779) returning the regimental flag to the ramparts while under attack from a British ship. This is a discovery coin. It represents type with a fly on pantaloons. The possible reconstruction of the events could be as follows. At the beginning the coin with fly on pantaloons was issued. It has two buttons and an impressed vertical fold on the right side of it (it is to the left for observer). The buttons are shown with black arrows on detail view. The photo of detail was taken separately. Later it was decided to change the die for aesthetic (the fly is in the middle of the coin and attracts attention), sexual and historical reasons, by re-engraving the fly part only: the bulge was increased and made even. Historical background is that pantaloons those days may have no fly. On the image presented ![]() Credit: Revolutionary War solder coloring pages: 11 historic uniforms & coloring guides. At the website:https://printcolorfun.com/4042/soldiers-of-the-american-revolution-coloring-pages-11-historic-uniforms-coloring-guides/ there is a uniform of sergeant of the Continental Marines from 1778. Being a sergeant, William Jasper may wear similar one without fly. Being this reconstruction correct the Rev. die of the coin presented should be named dieA, while the massive production happened later was struck by dieB. The coin was especially marked by a collector. In 2020 the verification of rarity was conducted. Among all similar to this 2400 coins collected from the USA, Australia and Europe and closely examined, no other coin with dieAwas detected. For the item was obtained by previous owner from circulation, it is a coin and not a pattern. Presumably rare and right now unique. For high interest of collectors to varieties the standard classification was published in world section eucoins.byethost9.com/usa.html#w3 of comprehensive catalog "VARIETIES OF EURO COINS" with images of this very coin for easy attribution. It is the great honor to present this outstanding discovery now for sale. P A, KM#639, UNPUBLISHED! UNC!!! MINT LUSTER! MASS 5.67 g | ||||||||||||||||
