RARE SET OF 4 SILVER COINS OF 100 RUBLES - "HISTORY OF TRANSNISTRIA", MINTED BY THE TRANS-DNIESTER REPUBLICAN BANK IN 2007-2008. 

THE LOT CONTAINS 4 DIFFERENT FAMOUS PEOPLE:

* Potemkin-Tavricheskiy G.A
The obverse design features the State Emblem of Transnistrian Moldavian Republic in the centre of the coin. Around the rim of the coin, there is the legend “Transnistrian Republican Bank” in Cyrillic. The lower part of the coin comprises the inscription of the coin’s face value as well as the year of its mintage. 

The reverse design represents the embossed image of Grigoriy Potyomkin-Tavricheski against the background of the Russian Empire Emblem and the inscription “Return of the Russian Lands Between the South Bug and the Dniester” in Cyrillic. Potyomkin-Tavricheski is primarily remembered for his efforts to colonize the sparsely populated wild steppes of Southern Ukraine, which passed to Russia under the Treaty of Kuchuk-Kainarji (1774). Among the towns founded by Potyomkin are Kherson, Mykolayiv, Sevastopol and Dnipropetrovsk. The upper part of the coin comprises the legend indicating the name of the general-field marshal and the years of his life. Below the image, there is the legend denoting the name of the series in Cyrillic. The lateral surface of the coin is smooth.

Reverse: the image of the general, next the Russian coat of arms of the city of Tighina (Bender) and, on a sheet of paper, an image of the fortress of Tighina, inscription "GENERAL - ANŞEF PANIN P.I." meaning "GENERAL IN CHIEF P.I. PANIN", years 1721-1789 and, on a ribbon, "ROSSIA V ISTORII PRIDNESTROVIA" (with Cyrillic letters, in Russian), meaning "RUSSIA IN THE HISTORY OF (TRANS)NISTRIA" 

* General P.I. Panin

Wittgenstein commanded the right wing of the Russian army at the First and Second Battles of Polotsk during Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812.The upper part of the coin comprises the legend indicating the name of the field marshal and the years of his life. Below the image, there is the legend denoting the name of the series in Cyrillic. The lateral surface of the coin is smooth.
