Silver octagonal medal with laterally-pierced ball suspension; the face inscribed ‘МИЛОШУ СЛАВА’ (Miloš Glory), circumscribed ‘СЛАВА ВЕЛИКОМ СВЕТО АНДРЕЈЦИМА’ (Glory to the Saint Andrewers), a radiant five-pointed star above, encircled by an oak and laurel wreath; the reverse dated ‘1858-1898’; age oxidisation marks, light scratches to the face, heavier scratches to the reverse; on replaced but correct ribbon. The medal was created to mark the 40th anniversary of the Serbian National Assembly that elected Miloš Obrenović hereditary Prince of Serbia on St Andrew’s Day, 12 December 1858. It was awarded to officers and members of the National Assembly who had served under Prince Miloš and for long and faithful service to the Royal House. Later, the medal was also awarded to veterans of the war of 1876-1878 with Ottoman Turkey and of 1885-1886 with Bulgaria. It was manufactured by J. Christlbauer of Vienna and M. C. Antonjević of Belgrade. Miloš Obrenović (1780-1860) was Prince of Serbia from 1815 to 1839 and again from 1858 until his death in 1860. The Assembly was held in Belgrade from 30 November 1858 to 31 January 1859. The medal is very rare
